I was worried that the neighbor dog might get loose and come over again and start a fight with one of our dogs. I take them into the front yard sometimes on a leash. One day last month I had Stormy out there and the dog ran up to her and started snarling with his hair up! Of course Stormy was not going to back down. I screamed for my husband and then gave him her leash and ran into the garage and put a leash on the neighbors dog and had my husband return the scoundrel to his owners. He is alpha in their yard and Stormy is an alpha wannabe here. So there could have been a big fight with Stormy losing of course.
Anyway, they are all enjoying trips into the newly fenced yard supervised. It is my planting grounds so they will never be there unattended unless I want to have everything shredded.
Stormy and Maggie were out there with me for about an hour. They really like the sights and sounds and smells of the new area. The sides are privacy with the narrower front being a four foot chain link piece. I wanted a five foot chain link, but the boys who did the poles Friday put up the wrong size. It should be ok though, as I will always watch them when they are out there.
Stormy came in and ran to the back door. I wondered why she wanted to go out again. It turned out that she had to pee! The little silly girl must not have figured out that she can pee in the front yard. She is not only house-trained but has specific ideas about going outdoors, I suppose. I just laughed when I figured it out.
I'll take some pics of the new area tomorrow.
Our kitten Jackson sneaked out there also after it was dark and I was letting Corkie and Lucy out. He thought it was a real cool game the way my husband and I were chasing him around. It took us about a half hour to catch him. I got a squirt bottle out to herd him in a certain direction, but after a while he decided it was cool to get wet! He is the one who jumped into the toilet!
I finally resorted to getting some canned food out for him and luring him within reach. He never did get the food. I was not about to reward him for his game. I gave the grown cats some and he will get his for breakfast. LOL
I was so afraid he would jump the fence or slip through the chain link and one of the neighbor dogs on either side would kill him. From now on he will be shut in another room when I open the front door.
We had our front yard fenced yesterday
