Palm Hotsync to Desktop software

Anyone else ever have a problem between a palm and the "palm" desktop software? Mine's refusing to hotsync contacts & calendar. It works fine for notes, memos, and software downloads. I've been through a few tests suggested by Palm Support, like making sure the handheld overwrites the desktop, all of the usernames match.

I've previously used a software package to connect the Palm unit to Lotus Notes. Now, I'm not using Lotus... and I'd like to go back to connecting everything to the Palm Desktop software. I've even downloaded the latest desktop software in case that was a problem with winXP.

Any suggestions? It's not urgent, but I'd sure like ot get my contact list backed up on my PC in case something happens...
