Hi Everyone,
I would like to give my water garden area a Japanese look and feel to it. I love the serenity that a Japanese garden has. I have stones around the ponds and plants of all sorts. I would like to keep most of the plants and not have it stark. Is my idea possible? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Judy
Japanese Water Garden
Oh oh oh! My husband and I were in Kyoto Japan a few times. You have got to do an Internet search for photos to see what they've got. Add the word Pavillion. Sounds silly but just add the word and see what pops up. Also too, the northern most portion of Japan, Hokkaido, has many beautiful ponds. That region reminds me of Minnesota for some reason. You might want to see what photos you can pull up on those ponds.
I have scads of photos but sadly I did not have a digital camera until about a year ago or I would post pics for you.
Why couldn't you keep the majority of your plants? They have plants over there. I recall sand gardens though within many of the Temples. Those were awesome. Maybe you could incorporate an area for zen gardening.
This is really a great idea!
Thanks, Equilibrium,
I will do the search tonight. Great news about keeping the plants. I am also going to look into Zen gardening.
Best,
Judy
Well, what did you come up with? Inquiring minds want to know!
Well, I have learned that this will be quite a project and learning experience. There are many types of Japanese gardens and of different periods. I have the pond and the stones and plants, but need to study to get a feel for how they should be arranged. I need to be able to appreciate every feature and get the balance correct.
Have you found and trickle towers that used bamboo? I saw something that was awesome on the Internet and for the life of me I can not find it now to post for you. It was elegant simplicity at its best. Now I've gone and done it by saying that and I can't even find the link. Let me look a little bit more over the weekend.
