I was very blessed to receive some hoya seeds today. I'm not sure which hoya they came from, but I remember being told it was one of their rarer hoyas. I'm hoping they will survive. I have them on wet paper-towel in a blown up baggie, on a heat mat. I feel almost like an expectant Mom, I don't know what it's going to be!!

Hoya Seeds
That's great Awanda! Keep us informed on the progress. Where did you get them from?
Marcy
Those baby seedlings could not ask for a better Momma!
My verigated multiflora has several large seed pods. I will send them your way when they ripen. I simply do not have the time to grow seeds. When they are small, you have to be really careful to give them just the right amount of water and once those babies dry out too much, there is no bringing them back! Then if they have too much water, often they will damp off or rot.
A freind gave me some seeds of a ver. lemon and although all of them sprouted, I did not get one plant like the mother.
Keep us posted, my friend!!!
Marcy I received them in a care package from a friend. Also included in the package was a rooted Excavata, a rooted hoya numbered 3751, hoya and oxalis seeds. Mel it's always a challenge to grow plants that are picky, send em my way, I'll gladly take them off of your hands, plus any others you want to send:-)

Your idea of the damp paper towel in a "blown up ZipLock" is excellent, Awanda.... Those clear plastic take out containers with lids also work really well...with a REAL light media like fine Perlite with just a bit of peat or mix with no fertilizer in it. The latter keeps you from having to transplant from the paper towel over to a soil-like mix later. Just sprinkle them on top and close the lid! I have sprouted lots of Hoya seeds....but only whidle the selection down to the strongest 10 and then plant them out in the woods...I never give them away or sell them. Have fun with them....!! They are really easy to do,,,,
Thanks Carol for the information. I have more hoyas seeds coming today and I will try the method you suggested with those. It'll be interesting to see which method does the best.
Blessings,
Awanda
You plant them out in the woods? Wow...Hawaii is going to be crawling with hoyas one day. Ha. Your just a real "Johnny Hoyaseed" aren't ya girl. ;-)

Yup! There is an area down near the coast where some H. australis have gone bonkers...growing wild all over the place. Amazing leaf size on these vines...as big as a saucer!! For sure they are self-pollinated and this clone is pretty amazing! I have two trees with H. australis growing up them: one never seeds and the vine is 30' up the tree; the other is always full of pods after blooming and it must put all the energy into seeds because it hasn't grown very much.
Hope they never shut me down for growing invasive species!!!! Which they aren't...
