Have you got brugs blooming in your yard?

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Here's what's blooming in mine. Of course I've had to bring them in to the covered deck, which I'm trying to make into a greenhouse. Notice my new light :) I got it yesterday, and when I came home last evening, realised I lit up the neighbourhood. No complaints from them yet, but I'm sure they'll be coming. I guess curtains on the deck are coming...

Oh Linda are you going to enjoy that space... as will your lovely Brugs! What a wonderful start they will have next spring with all the pampering they will have this winter. :)

Linda -- lucky you on all your blooms. In a few days I'll be right with you, though. Every single plant I have is loaded with buds, and ten of those are seedlings that are blooming for the first time!!!

Gretchen,
You know this is my first year with the brugs. I've had a few blooms this summer, like 2 or 3 at the most at a time. All of a sudden I have so many blooms and new buds that I'm actually going to have a flush!! I guess it just gets too hot here in Texas for them to bloom much in the summer. Hopefully I will have some in the spring since it will be second year for three of my brugs.

I'm right there with kaufmann will have plenty in a week or so, most are in the greenhouse but a frosty pink and insignus pink which are still in the ground, and have about 6 or 7 buds on each.

I just love the repeat blooming that we have with these brugs, the bloom more than anything else I have around here.

Great pictures. Keep 'em coming. Nothing in Iowa blooming from now until about June or July.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

I have 19 plants out there in bud and two blooming. Waited all summer for this. Bugs killed all my fun early on. This photo is one of last season's and was supposed to be a triple yellow datura. LOL But is a nice one to keep. Of those 6 are seedlings from Sue. Cant wait and a freeze better not come this way.

MG99, If your plants are doing that well why do you need that huge light? Where did you get it? I think I have seen them in hydroponic stores and also in SHERIFF'S AUCTIONS. HAHA

Just teasing you but really curious about why you think you need it. Jeanette

Jnette: If Linda wants to keep them actively growing and blooming through the winter, she'll have to provide supplemental light, as the days become too short for some plants to bloom. I use plant grow fluorescent tubes in my greenhouse starting the middle of next month so my seedlings will continue to grow, and the few brugs I have in there will continue to flower.

Thanks everyone, keep putting your photos here aw well, it's nice to see what's blooming this late in the year. Linda

I got the light at a hydroponics store, but I'm sure I could've got it a police autins if I'd thought about, marijuana grow ops are big business here.

I have the lightbecause I'm using it for light for the brugs, and heat. They are outside, and it's not really a GH yet. I have a bunch of seedlings, and brugs that haven't bloomed, or even Y'd yet, and I'm hoping with the light, that they won't go dormant. I might be full of ideas, and if it doesn't work as planned, I hope to get a good tan from it this winter! LOL

I have B. creamsickle, Charles Grimaldi, Solid Gold, Golden Lady and Knightii blooming right now. I have buds on Rosamond, Herrenhauser graten, Sun kissed, Pink Beauty and about 8-10 seedlings.

Linda, you have so many lovely blooms this late in the year. Keep posting pictures and let us know how the light works for you.

I have nothing blooming today....but whiskers has about a dozen buds, which should open any day now. Also buds on Versi Peach getting ready to open. About 6 other brugs are putting out at least small buds...so I am hoping to see some before it gets too much colder.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Picturelady, how cold does it get there?

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

trunnels...not very cold...our first frost date is Dec. 20th or so and last is mid-January. Usually the frost lasts only a few hours over-night and days are I would say over 50 degrees. Really a mild winter as winters go. Just not sure the buds will open before it is too cold for them. Even in my little greenhouse, my aim will be to keep them from freezing...but probably not over 40 degrees when it is cold outside.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

This is my first year for brugs so I don't know how cold, without freezing, is too cold for the blooms.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Well the end came for my brugs that were still outside last night, got down to 29 for too long a time. Today they look awful, so sad to see the end as lot of them were blooming nicely. Donna

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, that is too bad. They always look so pathetic after they have frosted or frozen. Now we wait for next year.
