roots.....

Pickens, SC(Zone 7a)

I have roots on some of my potted cuttings. I want them to live but not grow alot over the winter. Should I fertilize at all ?

I have the same agenda charlotte.

I have found that foliar feeding 2 or 3 times a month with 1/2 strength fert works fine for me.

This way you do not get the soil over wet.

I dont want them to grow alot (I dont have alot of space) just live till spring.

Charoletteda....Scoot.....Mine are all jammed together in the basement right now. Any more growth would not be a good thing for me. In order to keep things small but stable....I just give them enough water to keep them from going dormant. I start applying fertilizer in late Feb or early March...to promote growth. I also pray that the warm temps come early because once the brugs start growing things get crowded pretty fast. I do have a grow light and keep the run time to a minimum of 5 hours/day during the winter months. I don't know if any of this helps you guys????

Scoot, does it matter what kind of fert as long as it's water soluble??

Now, we are talking about newly rooted cuttings...correct? Mine are in small plastic cups so I plan to have to gently repot them once.
