PB x EP Hybridizer T. Mcleod (my first blooms)

Mesilla Park, NM

This is one of six seedlings that were from seeds from T. Mcleod. This is the first to bloom two days ago, and at first I was just shocked that it turned pink. This seedling is about 4 ft tall, another is about 5 1/2 feet tall and just started to Y.

My problem now is the rain. This is day 1

WOW...gourd, we had rain also in northern CA. but not that much!!! Your backyard looks like a river! Is this usual for you to get flooded?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Sure hope your brug seedlings are in pots. The bloom is so pretty.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Wow that's more of a flood than rain. Congrats on your seedling. It's beautiful.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

The seedling is lovely -- the flood, however is not! I sure feel for you!!!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Very pretty! Love that pink!

Thank you all for your comments..

I called flood control and they directed me to the Fire Dept. to get sand bags, they in turn did not know where we could obtain sand.. the garage got about 6 inches in there and my sewing room got about three. It is a mess right now.

There are lots of runoffs here and on top of everything else, we are in a flood zone. (the one in a 100 years)..lol.

Gosh, that must be horrible having that water in the house. I hope it won't ruin anything. The seedling is pretty, Antoinette.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Oh my that is terrible! I hope the water goes away quickly and nothing get ruined! Bloom looks like a nice soft color. Very pretty. Congrats to the both of you!!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Gourd, your bloom is beautiful but your backyard looks like some of our North Carolina rains hit you. I had three room flooded this year also. Good luck.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Thats a pretty bloom! Im so sorry about all that darn rain! Take care of yourself! Congratulations to you and Terry.

Thanks all, I don't know if T. Mcleod will see it, but just wanted to make sure that I posted who the hybridizer was. This is just the neatest thing to see, a brug bloom from seed. It gives me the incentive to keep on trying. NOW, where did I put those brug seeds...lol..

P.S. the water has gone way down and now hopefully the storm that is due this weekend goes away. Even my dogs did not know what to do, they are so funny, a weather blimp passed over our house yesterday and it made lots of noise, the dogs were just shocked and barked at it. They do love water, these goldens.

Gosh, it is so good to see you here again Antoinette. I have missed your posts. I am so sorry about your house. I hope the damage was not too bad. It looks just terrible.

What a sweet bloom you have there. I agree, there is such fun and excitement in growing brugs from seeds. The anticipation alone at my age is worth a lot. There is not much I get excited about the older I get, but I sure do get a thrill watching as my new brugs bloom and everyone elses!

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Gourd, your brug bloom is just lovely, and I agree that seeing blooms from seeds is the real incentive to seed growing. I have about 50 seedlings but only 15 or so have bloomed, and only one was light pink, the rest were ivory white, no keepers. I know frost is imminent.

So sorry about your flooding. I live in hills and we have at last had some very badly needed rain, but no flooding. Donna

You have very beautiful flower color, there is water and water every where in your back yard. Thats is good now situation is under control.

Mesilla Park, NM

Thank you all,
The water went way down, now there is just wet ground, and TONS of weeds already showing their green leaves everywhere.

If only my flower seeds would sprout after a flood..lol. They take a heck of alot longer than the weeds. These things were up in two days after the water went down, it looked like freshly sowed grass. It's a beautiful day here ..

ahelms, your brug is beautiful.. mine got a little darker and had 10 blooms at one time, but the rain did lots of damage, and wilted the flowers.

Kell, thanks, I haven't had any other brugs bloom, the double white is trying to do something, it is also turning an orangy color, very weird. Hopefully the other seedlings I have will bloom this year, they were sown in January of this year. I am sure it is the heat here that stunts their growth. Some stayed at 2 feet tall. And out of the 40 or so, only about 10 have survived. And only a few cuttings, like 4. Back to the drawing board..lol

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Your seedling is very pretty. But what a mess in your house and garden. It must be terrible to have water in the house. I hope, that the damage is not too big.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

WOW Ada, what is not to love there. Pink delight!

Mesilla Park, NM

Hi monika,

yes, I have been walking through the yard and decided to come back inside.. the clean up will be a little later, there is alot of mud that is not ready to walk on. We have the garage that flooded, the room behind it and another detached room about another 150 feet back. We have to clean out the mud.

The rooms are dry now, but full of dirt. Tree stumps actually floated to other parts of our land. The water must have been higher that what I thought. Lots of things floated quite a distance. A wagon full of canna rhizomes went over to another section of the yard.

Thank you all for your comments, hopefully, it won't rain this weekend, at least not as much as a few days ago. When it rains here, it rains enough for the year. I sure wish it would spread out some.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Thanks, Kell.
