Hi, I'm Nikkal, I've been a "member" for awhile, but kept hearing such great things about the subscriber benefits at DG that I decided to take the plunge. Today, I finally subscribed! Spent most of the day browsing the various forums, lots of good info. I see lots of areas that are of special interest to me. While I love all things green and growing, my main areas of interest lie in Brugmansias, aquatic plants and ponds, tropical plants,(I love to push the limits of my zone) and trading seeds, cuttings, and plants of the above. Looking forward to learning, contributing, and getting to know y'all!
Nik
Hello from balmy Memphis, TN
Hi Nik. You are my kind of gardener. I don't do the pond thing because of too many trees in our yard, but I do brugs and other tropicals. Come on over to the brug forum and take a peek. We love it when we have new people come over to chat with us. Before long, you will be one of the older brugies greeting the new members. LOL!
Thanks for the welcome, Brugie! Think I will hop on over to the brug forum, and see what's going on!
Nik

Thanks for the welcomes, y'all!
Equilibrium, aren't ponds great? Only problem is, you can never have enough! It's either bigger, bigger, bigger, or more, more, more! LOL I have one large pond now, (2150 gal) a couple of smaller ones, and some container ponds. Over the winter, I'll be digging another that's as least as large as the big one, and I've now decided to turn one of my front foundation beds into a water garden. I just love ponds!
Herbie, how are the fall colors this year? I was born and raised in CT, I miss the changing colors of the leaves so much!
LOL@ you, Judy! I think you're right, I lost a whole day yesterday, wandering around in here. Your thread had me in stitches, I can definitely relate! Was wondering where Pocahontas was when I saw your location yesterday, you're not far at all!
Nik
Ok Nik, you are going to force me out of my shell since you replied to my post.. I guess we can walk each other through this. I also love brugs and I am new to ponding, I think we can help each other out.

Hey, that's great, another brug lover, and a ponder in the making! I have to agree with what others say, both are very addicting. I guess gardening in general is pretty much over with for the season where you are. We have a month or so left, but I still dread the thought of winter, even though ours is much shorter and milder than yours. Guess I'm just spoiled!
Nik
Welcome from outside Nashville...great another ponder, brug lover...I also love to push the limits of this zone since moving from Texas and haven't quite gotten use to the winters here yet but glad to have you. I haven't been on for along time but I can't get enough of DG and it is very addicting as my hubby says but I love it here..
I have learned so much and everyone is just so friendly and helpful..
Vickie
WELCOME to a fellow newbie :) Hope to see you around DG often! -- Hugs
Hi Vickie and Huga!! Thanks for the welcome. I know exactly where Cookeville is VIckie, used to have a friend from there. I bet it's hard for you to get used to the change in climate, from that in TX. Recently, i was very surprised to learn that there are hardy palms that do well in your part of the state.
Huga, let me guess - you like hostas? Do you have a large collection? I love them, but only have a few. The ones I have are wonderful though, some of the most carefree plants I have.
Looking forward to chatting with you both again.
Nik
Just moved to a new construction, Nikkal, and I have hardly any plants of ANY kind! AHHHHH! It's driving me crazy, but patience, patience...I have grand plans for a hosta garden on the only shaded part of our property, but that must wait until after the more curbside plantings are done. The beds are ready, but bare out front. Our neighbors must be wondering WHAT on earth we're doing :) Someday, Lord willing, we'll have a big ole piece of land for hostas as far as the eye can see (LOL) but for now, I have to focus on just planting some perennials in my front beds! :) Hostas are great low-maintenance guys...perfect for my stage of life. Mom of 3 at home :)
Yes there are a few but my tropicals I brought with me from Texas I bring in for the winter but my Yucca did get a taste of frost last year since I did not get in one night and we had a frost but it's still going strong..I too am adding to my little garden since I don't have a lot of plants yet but slowly they are growing thanks to a lot of great people in trades..
I had never been to Memphis until this last summer we had our convention there in June and it was great to experience such a beautiful city..
Glad to have you aboard...

Vickie, what convention did you attend here in June? Hope it wasn't DG's - but then again, that would be my luck - late again... Glad you enjoyed your visit here.
Hi all the way to Canada, Elaine! Nice to meet ya.
Herbie, don't feel alone - I spent half the day raking leaves!
cceamore - Hi! Where is Hixson?
Hi Roadrunner, thanks for the invite to chat! I'll try to stop in and visit Tue night. I'm definitely going to check out that RU info. Thanks for telling me.
