I didn't know this until I received our local radio station's e-newsletter, but Jon Laymon grew up not too far from us. How fun is that? I bet his family's as proud as can be.

A former Knox county man is now a national celebrity. Mount Vernon native Jon Laymon is the newest designer on TLC's Trading Spaces. Jon was selected from four potential new designers by viewers in an online poll to become the newest designer. Earlier this year, Laymon and his wife, Stacy, of Orlando, Florida, won the show's "Home Free" contest beating out 7 other teams to have their mortgage paid off. Jon graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1992 and is the son of Gerald Laymon of Gambier and Cheryl Laymon of Mount Vernon.
