I'm sure it won't survive, but it started out green -- green stem and cotyledons, but the new leaves have all been without chlorophyll. Wonder what causes this? Is it just a normal, albeit rare, natural occurence?
White Seedling?
Gretchen, cool temperatures and lack of light may causes it but it could be also a mutation. It looks to me, that the small top leaf is green again.
Well, its in a warm environment and under grow lights. I have around 60 seedlings started, all in the same place and this is the only one that exhibits these symptoms. Interestingly enough, I planted 10 seeds of this cross on September 8th, and this was the only one that sprouted. The top leaf is a little greener, but all the new leaves have been until they get a little bigger and turn almost completely white. I'm now wondering if its a genetic defect... Thank you for your help, Monika!
It is so cute Gretchen. I hope it gets some green and is a variegated seedling for you. Tthat would be too cool.
Yep that would be way cool
Yes, that would...I'm not holding my breath on that one, though...
