new to hayas

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Well almost new anyway. I have about 7 varieties that i've grown for a few years now. Not sure of the names but do Know I have the hindu rope and silver pink.
I've been a member here at DG for going on 2 years now and grow many brugmansia and stapelias as well as a lot of other perennial type plants.
I am just starting to get interested in growing some more hoyas . I know meltn on this forum because i've purchased brugs and hibiscus plants from her in the past. I knew that she had tons of hoya varieties so I contacted her again earlier this week to inquire on the availabilty of some that I had seen pictures of online. She was nice enough to contact me letting me know what she had . I received my plants today and was quite pleased with the size ,quality and assortment that I got from her.
This is what I got( H.polyneura--H.globulosa--H.finlaysonii--H.lacunosa--H.cinamomifolia--H.onychoides--H.incrassata---H.neo-ebudica--H.camphorifolia--H.Ruthie)

Anyone who is new to hoyas and looking for some nice plants ,I would recommend her . I am sure many of the hoya collectors here send out nice plants/cuttings but thus far meltn is the only one that I have had experience with.

Looking forward to getting to know you all on this forum.

Welcome....maybe after your new Hoyas get big I will hit you up for a trade! Karen

Knoxville, TN

Thanks for kind words, David! I am glad you are pleased. As you get into Hoyas, you will find they quickly outgrow their space and there are plenty to share. I am always up for trading as well! I sell only a few to help support my plant habit and to make room for more but trading is a great way for all of us to increase our collection. I think key to trading is to bloom your trades to make sure they are properly labeled so as not to pass on incorrect labels.

I have a few Hoya plants also...ithink Carol Noel has the best plants ever. I order only from Aloha.

Valley Village, CA

Carol Noel, I just got a report from a friend on how nice your plants arrived, she was very pleased. I was told they are beautiful, well wrapped, packed packaged, nice size, etc, we sure learn as wel go, don't we.?
I learned about another dishonest person. What in the world is going on? Why would my name even be mentioned on another forum, what is there to gain? I'm surely not that important nor threatening, nor popular, strange goings on???????? I certainly can understand why people drop out of nasty forums.

Welcome Catsmeow. I am new to growing hoyas, too. I would like to compliment three people who have sent me some beautiful hoyas. They are Dianne, Mel, and Carol. Thanks to them my beginner's collection has grown.

If Shirley asks anyone on this forum to trade, I thought I should let you know that she is a most generous trader. She sent me a carefully packed box with much more than we agreed upon. I am delighted you are pleased, Shirley!

Meln, what is your e-bay name? I am always looking for good plants on e-bay. In fact just this past Sunday my DH was saying, gee you haven't gotten anything from e-bay lately. My wallet still has money in it. hehehe Would rather buy from someone that is from DG. Binky :)))))

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

Hello Catsmeow!! I too have ordered from Carol, her plants are gorgeous. Every order I have placed with her has a suprise gift inside too. Like an extra plant, or one time she sent me some of the fertilizer she uses because it is not available to me. Who are the other people that have a mail order store? I would definitely like to see what's available. Heather

You guys are just TOO nice!

Binky,
My e-bay name is the same as here: meltn. I have not listed many Hoyas since last fall. I recently stared a new job and have been trying to get plants settled in for the winter along with lots of travel for training and lots of study and overtime. That said, I have not had the time to find plants much less get them listed on e-bay. It took me 30 minutes to find a plant last Saturday when I was sending some cuttings in trade!
I just bought a really nice plant from ricfl. (If you see something he lists you cannot go wrong!) A really nice guy with healthy, happy plants! I need another plant like a hole in the head, but, something about getting a plant in the mail that makes about any day better!

Mel, Thanks for the info on ricfl. Will watch for him and for you also. You sound like me, to many plants!! But you are right, makes you fell so good getting new plants. Binky :))))))))

I second the praise for ricfl. Super guy, super plants!

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

Yes!! But as good as YOU????? hehehe

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

My cheescake is better!!!

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6a)

Is that a new species of Hoya? H. cheesecake? ;-)

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

No, but I wish it were! I love it but would be easier to hop over than walk around if I even got near it... if it were a hoya I would have a good excuse!!
