Now I need help with Canna info...Somebody?

(Zone 7a)

This was my first year growing Cannas from seeds. I did not know they would spread like weeds. Now that I've dug all the baseball size bulbs. What do I do in the meantime waiting for everyones postage? Will they be OK? Please somebody LMK. Thanks!

I don't know that much about bulbs... but if it were me, I'd put a little mulch over the top so they won't dry out too much.

They should be fine....they're tough! Although you may want to store them in just slightly moist spaghnam moss so they don't dry out too much. Or you can stick them in a bucket and cover them with moist soil if it's easier. I use the moss to ship trades, nice and clean. :~D

I think you are supposed to let them dry a couple of days (air dry - out of the sun) and then store in peat moss or vermiculite.

The rhizomes are super tough.. Here in my zone I have to dig more than once a year because they spread so fast..I have thrown some in a bucket or the wheelbarrow, and they stayed there for up to six months or more..Still gave them away and they grew like crazy..So don't worry, unless it gets super hard freezing there, lol..You can't kill them..

Yes let them dry and then store in a dark room.

There were a few cannas left at the IA RU when we were cleaning up so I took them home. Promptly forgot about them (in my defense- I did have over 40 other plants to find a home for!) and about 2 months later found them in the garage. Planted them and they all grew - even the most hard dried up tubers that I almost pitched!! Just amazed me!
