I saw a red sanguinea for sale on eBay. It looked fuller around the skirt than most photos I've seen. You won't believe the price it's going for - over $40! I am a bit suspicious of it; are they usually that beautiful? The auction number is 4330572446. I hope those of you who are more knowledgable about brugs will give me an opionion. I am interested in getting one because it likes cool weather (but of course, I'm not paying $40 for one)!
Check out red sanguinea

Scoot, just put the number woodspirit posted in the search box at Ebay and it will bring the auction up.
K
WOW that plant is up to $46 and still 2 days to go

They are in CA. I don't know if they ship outside of the state.
When I looked more carefully I saw this ALERT !!!
ALERT!
Due to current agriculture restrictions we are temporarily unable to ship to the following states: Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana and West Virginia. Please continue to check our website for changes in
these restrictions.
I think I have seen them pictured at DG, but can't find one on the PDB.
What does that term, "sanguinea" mean? I saw it on several other types of plants.....
Sanguine means Blood Red. That's all I've found.
OMG !
I wonder if these bidders are aware that ...............................
For under 4$ you can get a pack of b.Sanguinea seeds , which are some of the easiest and fastest to germinate amongst brugs.
In 2 or 3 months they could have a whole tray full of 9" sang plants. *sighs*
(this is how I get my Sangs every year.)

Thanks Brugie. Scooterbug, do yours get that full of a skirt? like the one on eBay? Most pictures I've seen show a very narrow skirt. And is that really the color?
I've had reds and this year had a yellow also-sure surprised me !.
Size and shape of the of bloom ,I believe , greatly depends on growing conditions , moreso than our other brugs. Every little thing ,
it seems , that bothers this bloom can stunt it ir make it withdraw , or open lopsided or even not fully unfurl.
I had one huge red this summer that was stuffed so tightly it self destructed.
When I cut it open to pollinate , it had actually molded inside.
Every sang I have seen is a much smaller flower than other brugs. This sang I have seen for sale a lot on eBay so why it is going for so much I do not know. I think the flare at the end is from the angle of the photo. The shot was taken from below. I would not call Sangs beautiful in the way other brugs are. They look more like a well dressed business woman than a prom queen or an elegant model. .
Margie, I have grown Annie's sangs for 3 years now and have never seen a flower!!!
I have found that they tend to get mottled so easily that they are not worth having. I had one glorious one for years but bringing in lots of other brugs seemed to do it in. I also had bought 2 from Kartuz, and they mottled fast and it was after that my old one mottled. Some people do not mind the mottling but I hate to see it.
Kell,
*Applauses*
" They look more like a well dressed business woman than a prom queen or an elegant model. ."
I could not have described them better .
While it is an experience to wait for a bloom to open , I would never trade for my other brugs.
They are very small ,plain and without fragrance.
I use the plants for fill in bare spots, I find the foliage attractive, cheap and easy to grow for certain parts of the garden .That is ............
.............unless a hot spell makes them look ugly then they get ripped out .
Occasionally I get one that really jumps up but not always flowers. I've only had 5 or six thinking back about 8 years or so ....................
Back in the Dark Ages.............when I thought brugs were only white or pale pink and then found sang seeds in some seed catalog from Australia ? ?
* this year was special ONLY because I had some Arborea pollen in my hot little hands .... LOL *
I purchased an istant buy on Sanguinea seeds at Ebay for $4 and .50c postage
