This site has Luna Moth Ginger as the Cultivar name and Butterfly Ginger as the common name.

I don't know. I read that it had white blooms. I'm not into gingers. Finally something that hasn't caught my eye yet. LOL!

I hear you there, LOL

It might be the white. I don't know for sure, but I do know that a huge moth (sphinx, I think) likes the butterfly ginger. It is about the size of a hummingbird but it feeds mostly late in the evening and early morning, maybe during the night too, I don't stay out to see. If you need the white butterfly ginger, I have plenty of that I can share.

I have the white butterfly, thanks, I just thought the luna moth ginger was diff from the white butterfly. They probably look the same.

Kathy,
It IS different. It has a very large bloom. It does look like white butterfly, but larger and the bloom is more cream colored than white. I believe you can see the picture on Stokes Tropicals website. I wish I could help, but I haven't got that one.

Thanks janet for the info.

Good to know, Janet. If someone had offered me luna moth ginger, I'd probably have turned it down thinking it sounded like the white butterfly, and I don't need that one.
