The mystery of the leaking toilet

I have been having water puddles on the sides of the toilet recently. I thought maybe we had a faulty wax ring that needed to be replaced. I did a little research on the web and that sounded like the problem. Well, this morning I was in the bedroom and I heard this plunk and splash sound. I ran in to see what it was.
Jackson, the new black male kitty had taken a plunge. The funny thing was, he was walking away, not running. I grabbed a towel and threw it over him to dry him. He was purring! He was in no hurry to dash away when I finished either.
I believe he did it on purpose. I never had a cat that liked to dive into the toilet before.
Fortunately I had already cleaned the toilet and it had fresh clean water in it. I wouldn't have liked the idea of a nasty smelling kitty to bathe. I have had cats that drank from the toilet before, but never ones that liked to swim in there.
