Culling my Tropicals

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

This fall I have decided to cull some of my tropicals. It is just getting out of control. I know noone here can relate to that. lol Don't need any plant but I am not looking to give them away. I 've invested mucho bucks in these. Instead I will trade the whole lot to one person for a load of rock to go around my new pond. I live 40 east of Memphis, Tn so this would be a great deal for some that lives in the Ozarks since ya'll have lots of rocks for cheap. For pick-up only and I need to complete this trade by October 23. Here is a list of most of what I want to trade. These are all mature plants out of my private collection.

Yellow Tropical Hibiscus
Pink Tropical Hibiscus.
Variegated Pineapple (huge)
Hibiscus schizopetalus (4' plant)
Pink Euphorbia milli
Senecio confusus "Mexican Flame Vine" when I got it two years ago it was in a 5 gallon pot.
Ipomoea carnea (in 20 gallon)
Tibouchina grandiflora (5 gallon)
Yellow King Humbert Canna-about 7-8 big plants
Bauhina "Orchid Tree" 7 gallon)
Carissa macrocarpa "Humpheryi Variegata"
Clivia minuata
Brugmansia-These are all plants put in the ground at the beginning of the summer. Some are several years old
Peaches and Creme
Cupid's Blush
Suaveloen variegata
Rosa Uberchung
Kyle's Pink
Isabella
Frosty Pink
Charles Grimadi
Melon Kisses

I'm sure there are some odd and ends laying around and I am cutting back my brugs for the winter. I could be persauded to part with some of them for the right other. The picture is of the variegated pineapple last year. I know several of the people that are active on the trading forum who could vouch for me since most here don't know. Willowasp comes to mind. Look forward to hearing some folks. Thanks,

Loretta

Ohhhhhhhh how I wish I lived closer to you. I know I have plenty of rocks but hauling in my van, I don't think I would make it up there to you. LOL If you don't find anyone wanting your brug cuttings, I would be very interested. I wish I could fly like superman--I would be there in a minute for the var. pineapple plant and Orchid Tree. heeheehee I hope you find the rock you need for your new pond.

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

LOL thanks bumkin, I wish you lived closer too. That pineapple is way cool. Looking at the picture I almost changed my mind about it. But no, I must cull plants, I must cull plants....lol. Made a list yesterday of what needs to go in the greenhouse and was shocked. Even with these gone there are at least 100 plants to be overwintered. Jeez, it does'nt look like that many when they are all spread out. Better not show the list to DH. It will confirm what he has been telling me for years...that I'm out of control. You know I went to Ga a couple of weeks ago, it's only about 7-8 hours away. It's a nice fall road trip. Heck you might even see Elvis eating a jelly donut down in Memphis. Hey for sure you could, my pomeranian's name is Elvis and he loves jelly donuts. lol

Kingston, GA(Zone 7b)

I was in Memphis around first of Sept. Had a wonderful time too. Wish I had known you were so close by. I know what you mean about plants going in the gh. My bf tells me I am way out of control too. I was trying all day yesterday to figure out where I was going to put all my tropicals and zone challenging plants. I love them all so I know I will figure out something before frost gets here tho. Right now till my bf finishes my new little gh--I have plants in a tent, in the barn, in the house, and in my grillhouse I just plastic-up for the winter as a gh (turned out pretty good too--may end up as a permanent gh heeheehee). Isn't it fun being Plant crazy?? LOLOL

Flat Rock, NC(Zone 7b)

shadow, disregard my e-mail. I didn't realize these were for pick-up only. Sorry!

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Ohhhhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyyyyyyy I wish you all the luck in the world finding a good home for your "treasures".

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

ok, what kind of rocks you looking for? just curious, I really don't think I have room for any more plants. but I wasn't sure what kind of rocks you wanted. Gravel rocks? large ones? flat ones?

if you don't find your rock trade and deceide to trade for something else
or possible trades for next year keep me in mind
There are a few I'm interested in

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

i have a rock pile-its 100yrs of picking up rocks on this farm-and we wouldnt trade it for anything. People stop all the time asking for the rocks!!! i will have to get a pic again! I have used lots to line my garden walks and plan to put them around the new hosta bed!

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

notmartha-I don't blame you! Good rocks are hard to find when you need them.
Kathy Ann-Arkansas field stone would be fine with me. Flayt ones or other shapes up to as big as someone could pick up without getting a hernia. They are for my pond, around the edges and to build a raised fire pit next to it. I posted a picture of the pond.

I sure hope you get a "taker" soon so that pool with be finished when some of us get together at your house in the Spring!!!

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks Judy. One way or the other it will be done. I e-mailed you! I 'm kind of surprised there are no takers. If you bought these a conservative estimate would be 500.00 if you could even find them.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I wished I lived close enough for the pineapple plant.

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

Me to, honibee. That thing is huge though. I will look today and see if it has a pup.

Ripley, MS

Shadowgirl, I know a lady that lives close to Memphis that would probably take all the brugs, however she is not on Daves. Would you like me to e-mail her?

Sure, if you don't mind. Thanks much.

Hey Loretta,

It's me, NancyAnn, formerly Casper. Did you ever get rid of all your plants? I don't have rocks to share, but I have perennials to share. I just posted a trade post today. Perhaps there's something there you might like? Maybe we could get together?

NancyAnn

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

Nancy Ann,
Good to hear from you. Nobody ever took me up on the tropicals. I would love to get together with you. Maybe in a week or so when I head up to visit Bill. Will e-mail you in a little while after I feed my DH.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

shadowgirl, if you still have plants to get rid of I would love to have any of them if they can be mailed for postage

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Hi Loretta,

I'm ready for a visit anytime you are. I have quite a few perennials to trade if you're needing plants for your new yard. Some are common and some are not so common. I would love to finally get to meet you. Kelley enjoyed meeting you at the Blues Contest. I even saw a picture of you. It's really time we got together.

I just built a new atrium, so I have a place for the tropicals. And should you ever decide you need a start of any of them, you'll know where to find them.

I hope you get all your rocks you need to finish around your new pool, it is neat looking. I don't have any rocks and I live to far if I did.
But if you have any Brut you want to get rid of for sase keep me in mind. I am really just getting started and so far I am starting to root a lot of different things. I don't have any thing to trade. But like I said if you have some left over after all the trading is done just send me a e-mail and I would be more than glad to take it off your hands.

Oh that Orchid tree is beautifull

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

2PD-no rocks darn it. I am putting it to bed for the winter. It's kind of like that for me with dogs and plants, once they find me they have a home for life.

kareoke-My philosophy is there are no bad kareoke singers and I love kareoke. It's like being a star for a little while. At home all I have is my spoon to sing into instead of a microphone. One of my oldest and best friends is a professional kareoke DJ. When we have a party he comes out and sets up for the night. I'd sing time if they would let me. lol The orchid tree is pretty. Thanks!

Nancy Ann -why don't you plan on coming down this way. You are welcome anytime!

Lo
