I have had cats for many, many years. Current spayed female is about 11 years old (stray, so not sure exactly).
I opened the front door this evening when I came home from working on my new place, and the entire house smelled like male cat spray!
I promptly went upstairs to check her litter box (cleaned last night, and she never misses the box) I heard a strange sound downstairs. Looking over the balcony, I saw a bird in the house. The ONLY opening was the upstairs slider, open about 5" so my cat can go out on the upstairs deck.
I have to assume the bird came in through that narrow opening, and my cat spent the day chasing the bird. I also assume the scent is something she must have exuded in the pursuit. It's PUNGENT!
Anyone have any thoughts on this? I have to be out of here in 2 weeks and have NO clue how to get the scent out.
BTW, I opened both downstairs doors and the upstairs sliders before I went to Lowe's. When I came back, no sign of the bird, and no feathers, so I assume it got out. I would have tried to catch it but with 20 foot ceilings, it's an impossible task.
