I was wondering what do you brug growers use when potting up a brug? I had a lot that I tried overwintering last year and they never put out new growth.
Soil for brugs
What kind of conditions do you have for overwintering? If you are keeping them in the house, you probably won't get much new growth if any. Most people use a soil that drains very well in the winter, and a denser, moisture holding soil in the summer.
I will have them in the basement but it is heated but I can turn the vents off if I need to. I think I used to heavy a dirt last year. I usually use peat moss with sand for regular plants. I was at a hosta farm last week end and I bought an elephant ear and he had to dig it and pot it and he used pine bark mulch and said it was the best thing he had ever used for hosta's and ee's. Thanks Kaufmann

You're welcome :)
If they are in your basement, they won't be receiving enough light to produce any new growth (unless you're using grow-lights), so I would think you would want them to go dormant. Just my honest opinion. Gretchen
Gretchen, in a long ago post Susie (callalily) told me as long as I had floursent lighting I wouldn't need grow lights. I do have it. I did let them go dormant last year and then some of them never put out new growth even though the roots looked fine. I am thinking about adding some grow lights and seeing if I can just get them ready to put in the ground next spring. Thanks for your suggestions.
I am growing starts in my house with plenty of light, and so far they are doing great, I plant them in equal parts of Vemacil, peat. and potting soil containing Miracle Grow, not sure they will grow during the winter as this is all new to me but I am trying.
