What a show off...........

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Golden Lady really is a show off. I think she had blooms on her almost every day this summer beginning in July.

Shirley, is this one that you feel is worthy of keeping? I saw one on ebay I had considered buying, but hadn't heard too much about it so I have hesitated. Thanks for your help,
Eileen

I love this one. She takes the heat, the bugs don't bother her much at all, she blooms like crazy, takes wind, and she smells great. I only kept a cutting and gave the mother plant away or I'd help you out by sending a cutting. I guess after mailing out dozens of boxes each year for the last 5 or 6 years, I wanted to take a short break from packing. Still mailed out about twenty boxes anyway.

Excuse me, did you say 'takes wind'??? I just posted to another thread about the beating my brugs and other plants are enduring today. Shirley, I LOVE this one, so fancy and pretty!!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I haven't found anything this one can't take. She even accepts pollen easily. Definitely one that I enjoy having around.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I saw that golden lady on ebay, she's 9.95, whew, that would be costly if you had to buy to o many of them, it sure is beautiful

Brugie, your blooms are beautiful! I can see why you love her so much!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I love her too Brugie. Yours is so gorgeous. Mine didn't bloom a whole lot this year until now. But she grew absolutely huge!! She is covered right now in buds!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Your picture is beautiful! Mine bloomed all season but I had it in a pot and wasn't happy with the way it looked. Next year I'll plant it in the ground.

Eillen- I'll have cuttings your welcome to for postage. I've not mailed anything out this season.

p.s. Miss Energizer Bunny (shirley) send me some of your excess energy. I'm lucky I can get seeds out the door. LOL

I have to agree with Shirley on Golden Lady. Mine has been blooming all summer and is getting ready to put on a new flush right now. We get really hot dry heat and wind in the summer and she takes it just fine.

I'm excited - mine's first bud (this year) is peeking out of the calyx! GL is such an elegant flower. Nice pic!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

She is indeed a beautiful lady! Glad she received an "A" from you on her report card! :~)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone. She really is a good one for showing off.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Golden Lady is a heavy bloomer. The flowers are beautiful.

What is the life of a Brugmansia flower, one day, two day or more? as I have only seedlings. May be in march These will bloom.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Mine usually last 4-5 days when it is hot and maybe up to 7 days when it is really cool.

Mirpur (A.K), Pakistan(Zone 9b)

Wow, it means we can enjoy few days, I always read your threads. Thanks

There is apparently a REAL difference between zones, probably within zones too. I love the zone thing but find it so weird/uncertain. Re someone who lives in zone 9b brings their plants in by the middle of October. I'm in zone 8a and we don't get frost until the 2nd week of Nov and considerably later for a hard frost. Whatever, with regard to blooms - when it's really hot humid, the blooms melt here almost upon arrival.
Then I read about Gordon's roof @ 145 degrees (surely I misread) and I cannot imagine why conditions aren't perfect here...

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sherry, it has just been a strange year all over the country this year. We had tons of wind storms and more rain this summer than I can remember in any summer before. Normally we are hot and humid and this year we had very little hot weather. I hope next year we will get back to normal. For me there weren't even enough warm nights to sit outside after dark without a jacket on.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Gorgeous blooms, Shirley. I love that!

I adore GL. She is one of my very favorites. Beautiful pics Shirley

What a beauty

She sure is pretty Brugie...

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Shirley, lovely brug bloom and photo. On my monitor it looks white, is it more golden in real life to be called Golden Lady? Donna

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Donna -- that's my question too...Is she white with a hint of yellow? Whatever her color, she's gorgeous as is your picture, Shirley.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Love Golden Lady ... great photo Shirley!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

She is an off white that can turn to a slight peachy color if the conditions are right. In this picture, you can see the difference in a white and GL's late fall color.

She sure is a beauty! What a fun boquet!

San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Brugie, your Brug is beautiful. I really like this swirly graceful type the best. Very nice.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks again. She is a pretty one and an easy double to grow.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Shirley, your photo is one of the reasons I'm so crazy about white, it really draws your eye and punches up a garden. I just LOVE GL, very pretty and soft - I hope my CDW's three buds left after the storm blooms. It's my first double (thanks, Ada!) and I can't wait, I've never seen one in the flesh...
