Any Whites with sweet smell?

Rock Hill, SC(Zone 8a)

I have Suavelons White and they are a pure white and look so good, but they have no sweet smell at all. My Dr Seuss fills the front porch and inside the house with a great, sweet smell and I want to know if there is a white that will give me the same sweet smell? Thanks, George

George -- have you ever grown seeds? I ended up with many, many pretty white brugs that smelled heavenly! Unfortunately I was hoping for pinks... If I ever get to a point where I know I have finally whipped the TSWV in my garden, and if these seedlings survive the winter (they are in the ground) I will be happy to share some cuttings next year.

I've not been a fan of whites in my garden until this year when I had one or two of the seedlings that I grew, turn out white and I decided to keep them. There are a couple of double whites that smell good. Species smells wonderful, but she had too many deformed blooms on her this year so I didn't keep her. Gretchen is right.....grow some seeds if you can. You will probably get more than one color from any batch of seeds.

Arborea has the best smell,it tops my list.

I have Gabriel. It's white, small flowered & the edges of the blooms browned within a day or 2, but the smell is divine.

The white suavelones I call Monster Brug has a wonderful heavy scent that fill the entire yard when it is full of blooms

I have quite a few, George.
'Whites' are my favourites, and seem to be my specialty. LOL
Most don't have names yet. The right name seems the most difficult part for me.

Thanks everyone for the feed back. Kaufmann, I tried seeds a couple of years ago when I first got into Brugs. Some sprouted and were put in soil, and some put up a 4" shute but in 2 weeks, they fell over and shrivaled up! If I learn what I did wrong then I would like to try seeds again.

And thank you eileenmlamb for the picture of your pretty, loaded Gabriel.

I would suggest Donna's Monster brug.

Shrubby type growth , low & wide and is an excellent bloomer with heavy set.

An excellent choice for a front yard specimen.

Been reading all your comments about your Brugs and must say I am very interested to grow my own. Can you give me a few good sources for seed or seedlings? Really like to try it especially the heavily scented ones.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Tplant, I can send you some unnamed seeds to try, but with seeds, remember you never know what you are going to get until they bloom. Color, scent, growth, is all a surprise with each seedling. If you are interested, email me. Like I said, I have unnamed seeds. They will be from good parents. I'm doing the Thanksgiving things today and tomorrow, so I won't be doing any mailing until next week.

Thanks Hibiscus, so 2 pinks = 1 white, cool! And, TARogers5, I would love to have some of your Erics White. Let me know the S & H charges. I think that you can click on my name for my address, if not, let me know! Thanks again all for your information!!!!
