This is the largest living thing on earth (or at least it was when the picture was taken). It isn't the tallest, redwoods are taller. It isn't the widest, some cypress in Mexico is wider. It is the largest, as in greatest volume.

Isn't it gorgeous, I've been there a few times, love it, never in the Winter, what a lovely sight!

I had seen pictures in books of giant sequoias in the snow and I had to to see it for myself. We went up hoping it would snow and just were lucky that it did one night while we were there. Chains were required but we were able to rent some from a gas station in Three Rivers. Neither myself nor my friend had used chains before so the gas station guy showed us how to put them on. When we got up to the appropriate elevation, I laid out the chains and my friend drove onto them and then I fastened them. I sure got my coat dirty, but it was worth it.

Just beautiful. I was there in June at that very spot. No snow then!

It looks so peaceful with the snow and without all the tourists.

What a wonderaul tree. It looks as is it would fill my little yard right up. How lucky you must be.

Now in Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh my goodness. The perspective kind of throws you off because of the fence in the foreground and the distance it was taken away from the tree, I didn't notice the people standing there underneath the tree so it didn't look that big at first... Once I saw the people there the penny finally dropped. That tree is enormous!

What a lovely sight! The people are so itsy bitsy. Amazing. I am stealing this photo and sending it to my DH. thanks

Those trees are so huge, that going up to one is more like going up to a building than going up to a tree.
