Cats and Poison Ivy

I was wondering if ya'll could settle a disagreement my DH and I are having. I have poison ivy, and he thinks I got it from petting and holding the stay cats. I told him that I must have touched the plant without knowing it.
Is it likely that I got it from the cats? He's very apprehensive about me petting them, but I must. I just love them so much. Has anyone here ever gotten poison ivy, or heard of someone else getting it, from contact with a pet?
