Advice for mole/vole repellant

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

I posted this in Garden Talk and no one answered, so I'll try here, too. I lost bulbs last winter and I was wondering what successful strategies I could use to keep moles and voles from noshing on my bulbs this winter. What works?

I have heard of planting your bulbs inside of pots buried in the ground. Also, they won't eat Daffodils. You could try repellents like dog/cat repellent but you have to reaply them when it rains and they probably aren't so great for the environment. Possibly chicken wire around them - but what a pain!

I am sure there are a lot of others here with great ideas! Hopefully you will get some responses!

Planting them deep like 8-10 inches, since voles, (who eat roots, moles eat grubs, etc.) do not go that deep. This will work for larger bulbs like tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. Indeed, plant the little bulbs in pots.

Unfortunately, these bulbs are already planted! But maybe I can move some further down.

gardens alive have spray stuff ive never tried it
some one told me traps with peanut butter! gonna try that~~
Id try anything at this point!
*castor beans!
They hate water so if your garden is small enough you can keep spraying and they will run out and then cloober them!
we killed 12 n 1 mole this way before
but now they are in my 4000sq ft garden-hard to water out!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrr

Dori,

You need a cat or a labrator retriever. My neighbor's lab has caught 3 already.
