Has anyone seen this 'crystalized' growth before?

looks like mealy bugs to me but the photo is not very clear. Can you post a better one ?

Thanks for your reply Scooterbug. I will have to wait and see if another leaf is affected to get a new pic, I threw the others away. I was looking at Calas tropicals and it looks a lot like the sites pic of burst cells due to heat and humidity- that is what my GH is like now, so I have put some fans on in it. Is this only on one leaf ?
I've had some of this on the inside of the calyx on my Butterfly plant. Strange stuff.
One the issue of cell burst, this usually happens on top of the leaf surface according to susie............
Then ,
this spring I had a problem and susie asked me if I knew what Thrips look like ?...............

I had to use my loupe to actually see this. Thrips are good at running so I only actually saw one on the whole plant . I could feel a sticky residue on my fingers after rubbing the leaf
