wayward scanner (or user?)

I keep telling myself of late,that I REALLY do like the Mac,and of course I do,most of the time.The latest problem is in trying to scan color photos into iphoto with the Epson Perfection(?)3200pro Photo scanner.Seems I had to hit 'go',favorites,pictures,iphoto library,albums and the image.Now it's down to just HD and into documents,then drag to screen,open iphoto,drag onto file and drop.What a terrible chore.Are there any other Mac users with a better solution?? please,pretty please with sugar.
