Well, it's Friday and another weekend is here...a long one! WhooHoo! What is every one doing this long Thanksgiving weekend? Hubby and I are off to the daughter's place in Summerland. I love it when the kids cook for us...pay back time! The weather looks like it will hold nicely for the weekend. Still no frost... (fingers crossed tightly). I have more rose buds that want to bloom yet, so it better stay nice.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Eat lots of turkey and pumpkin pie (remember, you have two months to diet before Christmas, lol) To our American neighbors, a wonderful Columbus Weekend to you too. :D
Happy Thanksgiving!
whoopee my whole family went to Jasper this a.m. I actually have the house to myself for 3 days. Love my mom dearly but it's nice to have a break every so often. Give thanks all, we have a great deal to be thankful for. Not the least of which are all our good friends at DG.
Great news to start the weekend with...DS was chosen to receive the Rotary Club Scholarship for the marks he received in Grade 10 (his second Rotary award). :D He is going to be a bit busier this year...he was also chosen to be the male representitive of the SRC.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone and Donna I am so glad you started this thread...a great reminder for me to go find a new heating element for my oven!! ;)
Tonight is a combination celebration- Quinn my nepew is 2 today and a Thanksgiving dinner will be served, for we will all be together.
As far as my man-well, he's gone hunting for moose and will be back nxt Thursday. Maybe, I'll be able to trade moose or deer meat for some trades here....LOL

My daughter now hosts Thanksgiving for our family.I will take the mashed turnip and carrot dish..and some acorn squash with a cranberry sauce. For dessert I will make an apple crisp with the apples from my trees.
We do have a lot to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving all!
Carol
The bears are thankful also.........oodles of wildlife activity on the North Shore! Having left his door open, a man found a bear in his kitchen, quite enjoying a pie and a fruit bowl......yet another, a female yearling, sauntered into Safeway, foraging for something to eat! Thankgoodness they place them back in the wild...apparently, there are now, about 5-6 orphaned, wandering about! E
Our Thanksgiving's a little backwards this year. We just got home from a nearly 2 week vacation, and my mother was staying at our place looking after the cats, the plants, my brother. So we had a turkey dinner last night because she was leaving this a.m. The rest of the w/e will be spent catching up on domestics and doing a bit of end-of-season work in the gardens. And of course eating my favourite turkey and cranberry sauce sandwiches -YUM!! Happy Thanksgiving to all!!
Christine
Such a strange Thanksgiving weekend here, usually I put the sauce for the 24 hour Salad out in the porch to cool..... it's way too warm for that this year. Everyone's been walking around in shorts for most of the past week....enjoying the warm/hot rays. :)
Can hardly wait for the smell of turkey and turnips waifting through the house! :D
Donna, thanks for starting this thread! I'm so glad to have found DG and to have met you all. We're just laying low this weekend, cleaning up the garden, enjoying the beautiful foliage...neither of us seems to have the energy/motivation to cook a turkey (although the cats have offered their help...LOL), so we'll probably eat out instead. I hope you all have just a wonderful weekend!
Shannon
Wishing you the best Thanksgiving you ever had! We also have a holiday it is Columbus Day. Enjoy your Day.
