My guess would be that she has broad mites. Could be wrong. You can't see them. Hope someone else will come along and help here.

okay if mites how do i get rid of them??? i didnt see any webs on the bottom but saw a few white looking spots and a tiny green looking worm which i picked off. insecticidial soap??

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I was hoping that someone would come in and confirm what I said or have a different thought about what it might be. If it is the mites, I use Avid or Floramite as well as an Ortho product that is a systemic. I think these little guys are harder to get rid of than the normal mites.

If it is mites, Kelthane will get them. It's cheaper than Avid and also more readily available. Sometimes if it is not too heaviily infested, a good spray of water will get most of them...especially on a little one that you can really get to.

About the mites. I have them too. I am almost crippled from spraying with prepared sprays which are all that I can get in my area. Is there anything I can spray with a water hose??

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

I spray kelthane with a hose end sprayer.

imzadi, I have had new cuttings look like that when the first leaves come out, but the subsequent leaves start to look more normal. You might want to wait and see what it looks like as it develops a little more growth.

Hubbard, OR(Zone 8a)

My guess would be mites. I would use Avid or Malathion.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

i sprayed and no new growth yet but still havent found a conclusion yet as the person i got it from says the mother plant is doing wonderful and this was one she rooted and sold.

What are you spraying with? If it has broad mites, they get inside the plant's leaves. Sprays for red spider mites may not kill them. Something that might do the trick is to prepare some water that is, I believe 100 degrees. (That is what I read on another thread) Someone will come by and say for sure. Anyway, put the plant, pot and all in this water and let it set for 30 minutes. The thread that I read said this was for cyclamen mites.

Edited to make changes in temps and times.

I'd remove those funky curled up leaves. Whether it's mites or not they are stunted and not going to grow normally. If it is mites they're concentrated on those leaves.

i have insecticidial soap the nursery recommened. the lady actaully wants it back but i dont want to give up with out a fight. she is willing to refund the price but i really wanted a maya. hehe

i plucked the bad leaves off at the nurserymans suggestion and havent really seen any change in it.

i dont want to kill it either.hehehe want it to live but if i send it back to her i know she will send it off to be tested and then it will die. Help save my maya. hehe

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/430516/ Here is a thread that might help. It has some suggestions from Calalily for getting control if it is broad mites.

Thanks for the link and hopefully will get a grip on what ever it is.

I did find one place that said submerging the potted plant in 100 degree water for 30 minutes is supposed to work. I'm going to go back above and change what I said. Would hate to see someone cook their plants. LOL!

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

oh my cooked brugs LOL!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Whew!! Saved that one from becoming compost.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I've had good luck with the drowding method. If the plants are small I'll do it for regular spider mites.... it doesn't seem to bother the plants at all.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

will try the water method hope that works for it. getting fustrated. may have to just send it back. crying over the thought.
