Looks like it is going to be a beautiful ruby color. I had it for 3 years, never did get it to bloom, just kept growing bigger and bigger, so.........tossed it!

Brommom, it's a passiflora. This particular one is P. alata "Ruby Glow"

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Looks the same as this morning, not opening at all.
My Belotti has opened this morning in the greenhouse,I know they say Belotti is sterile, but It worked on Lady Margaret!

Hi Don! I'm glad your P. alata "Ruby Glow" is blooming! I hope it opens up all the way for you. If you don't get many flowers this year, you will for sure next year. This is the first year for your vine since it started as a cutting this year so it should really put on a show next year for you. Probably most of the vine's energy has been directed to growth rather than flower production.

By the way, the P. Lavender Lady that you sent me has been blooming away and is very beautiful!

HiClare,
Is it normal for Alata ruby Glow to open that slowly, there is several other buds on the same vine trying to open also, might be why this one in particular is very slow in opening.
Lady Lavender is so pretty and very very vigorous too!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Don, are you sure that one is opening? It looks like a spent one to me, but I could be mistaken. When you see color at the tip, they ususally open within a day or two of the color starting.

The bud on the left is just about to open:

Well I'm pretty sure,I have been checking it everyday for a week, can't think of a day that I didn't check it.
It appears to have open a little more tonite, well no more tomorrow,I forgot did you say these have a nice fragrance?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Don, I could be wrong. It will probably open wide up for you tomorrow. Yes, the fragrance is wonderful! It just wafts through the yard and is very sweet.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Well of now the smell ain't all that sweet, but I'm sure its getting to the opening stage it has widen a little more.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Don, when it is all the way open, it should smell very sweet. Let me know what happens tomorrow.

I can't wait for mine. Clare I only have two flowers but they look good. Maybe I will have pics tomorrow. My Salvias and hummers will have to see me through. One cool thing is that my Nancy Garrison has flowers all over it, so I have tons of seeds coming.

I thought it might be useful to tell everyone that I had a few flowers on my R.G. that the inner petals became stuck together on, thus preventing them from opening all the way. So if the outer petals reach a fully open point and the inner ones don't, try a gentle prying:-)

Mine had the last flower that I know of today... I will miss it, because I doubt there's enough time for more blooms to from before it gets too cold.

Keep us updated on the progress of it Tropicman.

Yours open yet either Monterey?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Mine is finishing also.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Yay! Well, what do you think of the fragrance?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Clare ,very similar to the belotti, don't you think?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Don! I never compared the two, but it seems to me that they are different. I'll have to do a nose comparison! Ruby Glow wafts and is stronger, I think, than my P. belotti, but I love them both. Wait until you get 10 or 20 open at once, you will see how the fragrance carries on the breeze.

Today I smelled that familiar smell, and found these... I think there's one more left as well.
