Eleanor's vf-11 with bloom fertilizer?

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi all, I get a little confused on how to post a thread, but here goes. I was wondering if I should use Eleanor's VF-11 on the foliage of the plants and then when I water use a bloom fertilizer. Is this too much fertilizer or do they serve different purposes?

The instructions on Eleanor's VF-11 says not to use two different fertilizers, I use it on the plants, and I mist their leaves as well, I saw a difference in two weeks, are you having trouble finding this product. I was told it was only sold in Calif.? I am satisfied with it. Norma

Thank you for the follow up. I actually was recently in LA, and I picked some up at a Rexall. The bottle should last me for quite some time. Heather

I have been using Eleanor's VF-11 for misting 3 times a week and also use a fertilizer with systemic
four times a year. The hoyas seem to be growing well and I haven't encountered a pest problem yet.

When you are in Calif. again, you can find this product at OSH on Sep. Blvd./ Oxnard , in the San Fernando Valley
I think it is $14.95 or $15.95 per gal. but remember to let you plants have a winter rest, I actually have some that are growing now with the cool weather, but I don't intend to push.
In the hot house, where I house about 125 of them we are diffently pushing, it has controlled heat and humidity. Norma

Just curious as to how long of a winter rest they need? Does this mean to stop fertilizing them all together? Another quick question, my multiflora has a sticky sap growing on the stems. Does anyone know what this could be caused from? Should I move it away from my other plants? Thanks again.

I've used Eleanors for about 1 year and so far I'm pleased with the results. I only mist the leaves with Eleanors. I'm in Arizona and I buy it at Summerwinds Nursery.

I remember reading in The Hoyans that some hobbyists in the areas of "big winters" stop fertilizing in Oct/Nov. and resume, slowly around February. With the changing of the light at Winter Stolstice and the days slowly getting longer, the plants start putting on growth then. My growing season seems to be longer...all winter they grow some but they do slow down...and I have slow release in the pots...but I don't give them anything "extra" until January.

I live in Calif. My garden: I don't start fertilizing until March 15 I do watch the weather however, I want to start about two weeks before I know they are going to put on a burst of growth as it warms up a bit. I also slow down the watering, they just seem to dry out as fast.
In the hot house, at the Huntington: I keep it up as they have high humidity and even heat. They don't know that it is Winter. They are really growing. Norma
