Need help with I.D.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi, I recently purchased this plant from a nursery in Northern Calif. The owner of the nursery could'nt remember the name of the plant but said it was tropical or subtropical. Can anyone help me out with the name.

Thanks, Patricia

Allamanda, maybe?

It looks like a Phillipine violet, but it's the wrong color.

No, it definately isn't the Phillipine Violet. It grows on strong stalks and the plant is about 2 ft. tall.
