I have 4 large Passiflora's in pots (all different varieties) ............. for some reason none of them bloomed this year... (that's another story).
Do I have any other alternative, other than bringing them into the house and growing them as houseplants? Can I put them in the cool basement and let them go dormant? We've already had a couple of hard frost, so they are sitting in my hallway right now.
I wouldn't mind 1 or 2 as a houseplant, but don't know if I have the room for all 4. Actually I have room, but not enough space with sunlight.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Over-wintering Passifloras
Mine only bloomed a couple times this summer, we weren't warm enough. All of mine are in pots, I keep them growing inside backroom/heat/windows.
I trim back only enough to keep them in check. I do have little plant "holders, just to wind them around and make them grow up not out. They don't need a sunny window, across the room from windows, but do get light. Any that I ever tried to let go dormant, never saw them again. They do need to be warm and kept growing some.
Thanks Hibiscus.
Well, I'll just have to squeeze them in somehow .................
It was a cool summer wasn't it, that is probably why mine didn't bloom. One is a large plant now, but I grew it from seed so this is only it's second summer. It was a tiny thing last year.
I kinda think they didn't get enough sun either. I had them on my covered, west facing, porch. Next year they will go in full sun.
