Hey Y'all, from Texas

San Augustine, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm so excited to have found this site! I am fairly new to gardening and astounded at the wealth of information found here!

A little background info: In May, my husband and I built a house on 52 acres in the Piney Woods of Deep East Texas. I'm a transplant from Houston, he's from this area. We have one son, Conner, who is thirteen and detests helping in the yard! I tell him it's good for his soul...his response... "Mom, my soul is just fine." Our house is built on the highest hill for about 5 miles, we can see everything - but no wind breaks! The property has been home to several huge oak trees, but of course none where we built! I've since planted about thirty trees and a few other things for color this summer. My yard is practically a blank slate, but with the help of my new friends and their knowledge on gardening, I'm sure it will be beautiful soon!--Cynthia

Springboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Welcome from Ohio!!! I'm similar to you in some ways, new member, just 2-3 years gardening, and a new construction. Small difference is I have 1/3 of an acre!!! LOL! I hope you aren't planning on 52 acres of perennial gardens :) My piddly blank slate is going to take long enough for me! LOL :) I'd love to follow along with your additions (photos, etc.) I've got a little part of my journal for recording our progress. The journals are really neat ways to organize plantings/ideas. Make sure you check that out! Welcome again -- Hugs
