I had seen pictures but had no idea how beautiful this flower would be! I got this start from Patti- rose318, thank you so much! I love it.
Blooming Epiphyllum!!
It will close at first light in the morning.
These are gorgeous.
Art_n_garden,
I am so glad it bloomed for you. It 's beautiful!!!!!!!! Now that would make a beautiful silk scarf or silk frame picture. When you came to my house did I give you the Showboat epiphyllum cutttings also? Did I give you enough for you Mother? PLMK.

That showboat is so gorgeous! You gave me some of those and they have started making pretty complex root systems- I let them callous for a couple weeks, and have been rooting some in water and some in soil. I gave a few to my mom and some to my future MiL--they both love them. I can't wait for them to bloom!
I took so many pictures- I bet that would make a great silk...hmmm good idea:)
Thank you so much- it was such a treat last night! My 2 roommates were even intrigued and they dont even know how to take care of pothos!
Susanne
Susanne,
Your welcome.
I thought I gave you some cuttings of the Showboat, but I wasn't sure. Make sure you root them in soil only .Water witll rot them. I am glad you shared them with you future MIL. and your mother. I hope you Mother is doing well. I hope you are also doing well in school. Take care , and keep in touch.

That is a beautiful flower! Congratulations!
True species just don't have flowers like that, I don't think? Norma
Norma,
From what I understand the true( original) epiphyllums are white flower. Later, they were hybridized then colors appear in the flowers. Is that what you mean by true species? Thanks,
Patti

Rose, I think Norma means your "Showboat" is a epiphyllum hybrid, whereas Art_N_Garden's flower is the species Epiphyllum oxypetalum, but I guess I should let Norma explain what she means! LOL!
Clare_ ca,
Thanks, I know you are not talking for Norma, but I agree with you.Showboat is a epi hybrid and night blooming oxypetalum is of true species. I misunderstood what she wrote. My mistake.
Thanks,
Patti

Thanks, Clare_ca. Do you have showboat? I think your Paradise is very pretty too. How long have you had your epi?
Patti
Thanks, Patti! I think your Showboat is brighter than my Paradise, but they are both beautiful. I don't have Showboat, but I have a bunch of other named and unnamed cuttings that friends have sent me. I'm just starting out collecting these and haven't had my cuttings for more than six months yet. I have a bunch of hanging baskets with them. Here they are below:
Clare_ca,
I was told it takes two years for them to bloom from cuttings, unless the cuttting itself was already two years old. I know the rooted cuttings I gave my friend were not 2 yrs old. I love epi. Only wish I had more.
Patti
Patti, that makes sense. I'm not holding my breath for flowers until next year, I hope. If I had more room, I'd definitely get more, but I am running out of places to put hanging baskets, and there is no more room on the ground! LOL! I only hope they can be content in the hanging baskets for a couple of years.
What a beauty you have
Hi, I was just coming on here to ask about a cactus someone told me about today-- Epiphyllum crossed with Hatiora Salicorniodes. She said it had a heavenly bloom.
Norma,
Very nice epi and rhipsalis. I can't get enough of them. Thanks for sharing your picture.
Patti
Wow! That is gorgeous, Norma!
