How much do you sell them for Yumiko?
Prices are different every year.
7years ago, I sold one time to buyer, because I just moved and I did not have anybody
to share. They were 2 grocery bag full of grade 1-2. and I got over 100 dollar.
Now I just enjoy by myself or share with my friends . l don't sell to anyone.
These mushroom are so expensive in Japan, some of the mushroom cost
couple of hundred dollar per one mushroom.
I had a feeling they were something special. Where do you find them growing?
Whan I was in Powell river, I saw mushroom signs.
The shop was closed ,but I asked the people around.
They told me that shop is for to sell mushrooms. So I waited till fall,
and went into the bush to pick. When I pick pine mushroom,
I could not believe. I was so happy.
Basically anywhere in the mountains you can find, but people
would never tell you My husband picked at Port Alberni yesterday.
Pine mushroom grow under the ground. You have to search
under the moss. It is hard to explain.
Canadian pinemushroom are very white, firm. Japanese pine
mushroom are more darker and softer yet both mushroom have
same fragrance.
I heard Mexican pine mushrooms are more closer to Japanese one.
Canadian mountains are like jewel to me. They have tons of rare mushrooms,
plants growing. Every time my parents are here, they love to go hiking to
discover different plants.
I would love to learn more about mushrooms.
I have some books about mushroom but it is hard to tell from books.
I need to know somebody who knows about mushrooms well.
Lilypon, If you can come here, I can show you where to pick pine
mushroom. I can share my secret spot.

Are you familiar with Morel mushrooms, Yumilko? My nephew was here in the spring and picked at the different "burn" areas in the Okanagan. There were buyers right there in different locations to buy them and the pickers got a lot of money for them. He gave me a bagful of dried morels and as much as they were delicious, they did not agree with my gastrointestinal system (if you know what I mean...). Sadly, I had to gve them away. I love to hike and here in the kootenay mountains, there are many diiferent types I have found, some, I am sure are good ones, but since I am not an expert, I never try them. I wish I had your expertise, Yumiko.
Thank you Yumiko....one of these days I may take you up on that! :)
Old flower girl,
Believe or not, First year when I built house, there were morel mushrooms
in my yard. I ate them and I am still alive.
After second yearm I did not see them growing anymore.
Maybe with weed and feed lawn chemicals, or I don't know why.
There is morel sanctuary close here, but I never seen morel there.
Someday I would love to go uo interior BC again.
Yumiko morel only grow where there has been a fresh burn which is why we had such great morel from the the BC interior and northern Alberta this year.
Jagonjune.
" Fresh burn" means after big fire?
Oh god..What did I eat from my yard??
Oh well it is too late. LOL
How is your asthma?
I often get Athama attack this time of the year.
Are you feeling all right now?
feel great so far - no smoke or ash. in the summer with the forest fires to the north we sometimes get smoky air and then it bothers me a little. i just try to keep so busy that i don't have time to notice LOL
