how do you store for winter
calla lilly
well im not alone 30 people have viewed this ,and no one knows how to store for winter ?????
I don't dig mine up. I have been growing calla's for over ten years now and I have never lost any. I did plant them a little deeper than what was called for but the babies that grow from the seed pods are not that deep so I would suggest that you just leave them in the ground.
As far as storing the bulbs over the winter. Just keep them in a cool dry place. I dig up clumps all of the time to divide. Right now I have a 2 gallon pot of bulbs that has just been sitting around on my back porch for the past month while the greenery died off. If I don't get them replanted I will just stick the pot in the garage for the winter. I don't do anything special to them at all.
THank you ,thank you ,i had lost them twice here in tulsa area and did not have a clue as if it was winter related or brown thumb.
Taz, in my old garden (6b) I lifted them one year and stored them in the basement. Apparently I missed a few and the next spring those were better than the ones I dug and replanted. Plant them deeper, though.
thanks darius .how are you ? I am ready to round up again but pocket book say NO NO not tell next year and for me to stay off coops, LOL spirt willing ck .book is empty

Taz, I'm pooped from painting and getting my new place ready for move-in. What's a pocket book, LOL?
Here's what I do with
my calla lilly's &
begonias, I plant
them in pots that I
buy at the dollar
stores & they are
good ones for $1.00
each. In the fall
I take all of the
pots in & leave the
bulbs in the pots.
Then when planting
time comes I split
the bulbs up.
Leaving the bulbs in
the pots over winter
keeps them from
drying out.
