Well, here we go again.......I was in bed, tucked in cuddly bunnies, watching tv and heard my neighbours outside yelling and banging on something ........sure enough..........bear! he had dumped my garbage can, full of prunings, all over the patio, then he was up on fence..........I have a feeling he was after the rose hips throughout my garden............so many sightings this season.........although it was dark outside! Foraging has been up at this time of the yr. The berries are all gone, as they came so early this yr. E.

I thought the bears had gone Elaine, I had one in my garden too about a month ago. I noticed this week that the Bear Sighting sign on my street had been replaced with a Coyote Sighting sign.

I think it is so sad when the bears have to resort to coming in so close and dangerous to the populated areas to eat. It is hard to believe that they would venture into big cities like Vancouver. We have them in the interior, but our cities and towns are so much smaller than on the west coast. Even here, we have been lucky enough to only have the sightings on the outskirts of our city, and that is mainly in the Spring. But I just heard from a neighbor that they are out and about trying to stalk up for the winter hibernation right now. Your garden must have been a culinary delight to that big ole bruin, Elaine. That's what you get for having such delicious looking flowers. :D

The year I spent in Prince George was full of bear problems. We got a notice in the mail asking usto take off all apples - even the tiny crab apples. Tht year I think 28 were shot within city limits.

We had scratches on one of our trees in the yard. I thought it was a weather/bark splitting thing. It wasn't.

The first day we got there, was waiting for the furniture truck so thought I would go for a walk along a nearby trail, with my then 4 year old grandson. On our way back, a woman came out of a nearby house and told us NEVER to go into bush in the fall. Things that you learn FAST.

In Victoria it was cougars and peacocks.

My stupid neighbours in back of me have a tree full of apples.......that's the draw! I think he tried to climb my Chinese Kousa Dogwood tree as the huge bottom branch is broken off! First these people fed the racoons and now this...we were all told by the Bear Wardens to pick off all fruit and berries! YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The neighbors who blocked your water view?

Every year we get notices from the city, warning us to remove fruit from our trees to cut down on the bear visits. Unfortunatley, many people ignore the notices and leave fruit hang there well into the winter. Frustrating!!
