Thanks!
Beautiful hosta! Do you ever have a problem with deer munching on them?
Yes I have lots of deer and spend a lot of time / effort trying to repel them. So far they have been content to devour my 'Guacamole' hostas in the front of my house. They have not bothered the ones out back much. Milorganite has worked pretty well. I use it along with garlic clips, Deer-Off and other things. It's when I don't keep up with treating the new growth that I end up with stems.

I agree with Greta, very nice photo of one of my favorite Hostas.
I bought an institutional size bottle of cayenne pepper and have had some success sprinkling it on deer susceptible plants, but it ruins the way the plants look and sometimes discolors the leaves. Not much of a solution for a show plant, but it does save the plant from obliteration.
I have the same problem with Deer-Off - it leaves white spots. The problem with pepper is that it gets washed away with rain or irrigation. I think the best thing is to keep changing the approach. They seem to get used to things so it's good to vary them - rotate the use of garlic, milorganite, commercial sprays, predator urine, etc., to keep them off guard. I am trying small mirrors for the first time. I hang them from trees and shrubs - especially at the 'entry' points of the garden. Supposedly they don't like the moving flashes of light. Of course the best solution, short of a fence, is to use plants they don't like. Try to surround the plants they do like with those they don't.
