I have year-round residents.

Last year around Christmas I saw my first hummer in years at a nursery. Now that I have plants and feeders I am hoping to see more of them then in the summer. I will be the always open diner. They don't leave for the winter, so I know they will be hungry. This is the Boss of the backyard Queen B#%*!H Stay out of my yard or die! Big aerial fight yesteryday before I took this picture. And in this corner.

Great photo! I'm jealous that you have hummers year round! I miss the little guys, they are gone for the year here. They left late, maybe they knew there were hurricanes on the way to Mexico, I don't know how they would know, but nature is mysterious!
I was suprised this year- for the first time I realized just how territorial they are, I had a male who decided he owned all the feeders and the flowers, and he chased all the others (male or female) away every time they tried to feed. One day he had a very funny face-off with a bumble bee!

She is beautiful. Looks like the owner of my backyard. DD calls her queen Squeek because she sits and squeaks and grumbles at the feeder all day.

The owner of the front yard is a rather stunning male. I think I need to give him his own feeder out front. He comes in low around the cactus garden and terrorizes her. Lol! maybe it bodes well for babies come spring.
