Cleo was my loyal, faithful buddy since she was given to me as a 5 week old puppy in 1997. She is going to be so very missed by me and my family. I know she's in heaven now, and hopefully she'll gift me with another lick on the cheek when I someday join her there.

Thanks Karrie -- yes, she was a joy. She traveled all over the country with me -- to Florida, to North Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky. Flew on airplanes and loved to ride "shotgun" in any vehicle....We have always joked that our pool is/was her pool, because she used it more than any of the rest of us LOL! I will never forget her big toothy grin and wiggly rear-end when she greeted me every morning, or when I would come in after being gone for a while. She was always with me in the garden, and everywhere, for that matter. I will miss her immensely, but I do have wonderful (although painful right now) memories of an awesome buddy :)
Gretchen, I'm so sorry for your loss, I know that some pets are more family than blood family, and very hard to lose. They give us such unconditional love. Keep the good memories.

I'm so sorry, Gretchen. I know how much it hurts to lose a beloved pet. They become part of the family over the years. It hurt me so much when we lost our last pets, Duke, a border collie who was 14, and Misty, a kitty cat, who was 19. In fact, it hurt so much that when we moved back to town we didn't even try to replace them. Someone wrote in a column to Billy Graham a few months ago asking whether our pets would be in Heaven and Billy Graham said he was pretty sure they would be.

What a sweetheart of a friend. I'm so sorry about your loss.
Oh, Gretchen, I sincerely regret your loss. Six years is not long enough, and she appears to be the picture of health, as was my Mimosa, who went to the bridge when she was only five years and in 'perfect' health, she had been examined by our wonderful vet, 12 hours before. Mimosa had an aneurism, and was gone in a flash, along with her 9 perfect, blond babies, 7 girls, 2 boys, we had no idea there was a problem. Mimosa was here, she smiled at me, turned around in her whelping box, laid down and she was gone, my heart was broken. That was 5 years ago and I/we miss her still. This I will tell you, I have some very nice pups that are already at the bridge and I assure you they will welcome Cleo with open paws. Always remember, Gretchen, Cleo will live forever in your heart...
So sorry Gretchen. It is so hard to make that choice and then have to do it. It is really heartbreaking as they are such a part of ones family. (((HUGS my friend)))

Thank you all so very much for your incredibily warm, kind, caring words. You are all so dear to me, and have touched my aching heart immeasuably. I am truly blessed to not only have had my wonderful Cleo for the time I did, but to also "know" all of you. As my husband has said time and again, only God could create an animal so compatible with man. She will be greatly missed, but I have many memories of awesome times spent with her.

Oh Gretchen, I just saw your thread and my heart goes out to you & your DH on the loss of your faithful companion, Cleo. She has now crossed over to Rainbow Bridge. I know you miss her more than words could ever express, but she lives forever in your hearts and in your memories. She is smiling down on you and forever watching over you and your garden.
