What do you do with a Castor at the end of the season and once you've gathered seeds...... Last year I dug the couple of plants I had out of the garden but this year I have quite a few more and am not looking forward to that chore...... They have such big thick trunk you can't just pull them out ..... can you chop them off at the ground and leave them to rot until next season..... ?
Fall Clean Up ..... for Castors
You can chop them off at or above ground level and leave thru the winter. We leave ours in the ground all winter and remove the next spring. They are much easier to remove the next spring. Although we have had some that were tough to remove even then.
Im looking for lots of castor seeds for next yr- i want them all the way around my garden-darn gophers!
