Spider Flower 'White Queen' (Cleome hasslerana)
I have these in my little "white garden" ...they are sooooo beautiful.....I see walkers by getting seeds ...O r when I am out front they will come up and while they are talking to me they" helpy selves" Onlly gardeners know it is ok heh heh.. because .it has an abundance of seeds. ; however, my pink ones have that bottom section of the almost round petals fanned out very beautifully....but my white ones won't do it.....I've tried watering extra it could be full sun or not...duh guess I have to look this one up.... do you know what I mean? yours are kinda withered up too...it is the bottom part.....you do understand next year you will have several there. it is a wonderful perennial "comeback"

I saw this one in a large container with 6 plants in it at my favorite nursery on sale . Three of them bloom pink. The leaves looked a bit pitiful because they were rootbound. I had never seen these plants before in person. Even looking pitiful, their blooms are magnificent. I decided to buy them when I saw all of the seeds figuring that the plants may be near the end of their growing season, but I would have seedlings in the spring. I thought the white ones not fully opening was due to their being rootbound, but maybe we have a different type of cleome than 'White Queen'. Thanks for mentioning this to me. I'll have to research this too. I just went out and looked at the blooms and they are all open soooo I don't know why the white ones were partially closed before when I took the photo. It is great to know that I hopefully I will have new plants in the spring. I know nothing about these plants. Where should I plant them ... in sun, shade are partial shade. It gets pretty hot down here. Thanks again for your comments.

II have mine in the sun..I first saw them in st. louis in massive amounts in front of banks and public areas ..they must be hardy for places like that to plant them....I have some in the shade that jumped up from last year... it is so beautiful I think I can show you a pic now ..of mine when they were well .... in their glory....I have many seeds to pack up ..let me know if you want some...dee....... here is the little garden spring, summer etc. and I believe this has the downtime.... someone stepped in the middle so they turned brown fast ...I don't know if they make good cut flowers I don't want to cut them cause they are beautiful where they are ...I believe the one's in the sun do the best

A perennial is a plant that lives 3 or more years, producing leaves and stems each year from rootstock, crown buds or branches. I think these reseed so it is an annual. I love your sequence of photos showing them at different stahes. Your flowerbed is lovely and all of your plants look great!. Yours have really thrived where you have them planted. I have been collecting seeds off of mine, but thanks for the offer. Also, thanks for sharing your photos. They have helped me de3cide where I need to plant them.
you are very welcome! thank you for telling me the difference in annuals and perennials....
