How do you keep a white dog looking white??

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Hi all,
I have a little problem. Aggie (a Westie) always seems to find a barespot of dirt (we have clay soil) in our yard and somehow always looks dirty. I gave him his first hair cut a few weeks ago and even bought a special shampoo that is specially made for white coats. The only time he looks white is right after his bath but even then the brown stained hairs on his paws and beard don't ever come out as clean as I'd liked. I've already given him two baths in a month and don't really want to give him frequent baths so as to not dry out his skin too much. Is there a groomer is the house?? I'd really like some advice on what brand shampoo really works. TIA,
Gemila
