Can anyone tell me if dill weed is the same herb as dill? I needed dill for a recipe but found only dill weed at my local grocer. The dill weed I purchased didn't have a real robust flavor as dill. Maybe because it was dried and not fresh.

Dill weed is the leaves of the dill as opposed to the seed which has a stronger taste. That's probably why you noticed it wasn't as robust a flavor as you expected. The seeds definitely have a stronger flavor. Dill weed can be either fresh or dried, but the fresh tastes superior to the dried (isn't that usually the way it is? ;-))
