Passiflora mucronata in bud

Floresville, TX(Zone 9a)

I think this will possibly be the last one to flower for me this year, among those that haven't flowered yet I mean:-) This only leaves me with P. penduliflora not having flowered yet.

Indigoez, I look forward to seeing the flower!

Rich, Those are definitely buds. Congrats!

I hope, I had one and nothing before. It must be this way with expecting parents LOLOLOL!

Yup, those are buds:-) My alata seems to be taking a break from further bud formation, but it has been blooming for quite awhile now, so I guess it can't go on forever:-/

My P. alata is still going and probably will keep going until it starts to get cooler. I think mine bloomed for two months last year, but I can't remember.

Rich, this is your first year with this vine, right? I bet that it will start blooming soon for you. It may be only a few blooms this year, but next year, when your vine is more mature, you will probably get flowers sooner and more of them.

Hopin!

Well everyone, the mucronata is not cooperating with me at all. The buds refuse to open and eventually just fall off:-( I suspect that one of them was open on a night that I wasn't home, but that does me no good.

Maybe next year...

Chris,
I keep getting a notice that the e-mails I send you are delayed. I'm not sure what is going on but I thought to tell you about it. Did you ever get you computer problems fixed?

Floresville, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi Hugo, I still have screen problems, but that shouldn't have anything to do with me getting emails. Probably something is not working right with aol, which is nothing new. I'll have to check my email settings, thanks for letting me know.

I spoke (typed?) too soon. Apparently this is not a night blooming plant as I had read, but an extremely early morning bloomer. I took there at around 8:30 this morning. I've checked it as late as 3:30am, so unless they open after that, it's definitely not night blooming.

Notice the oddly shaped anthers and stigma, designed for bat pollination so I read, not that there are any bats out after dawn that I know of.

The smell is unusual, not really like any of the other ones I have. Kinda fruity, but not at all strong.

Thanks, Chris. It's very pretty.
