A Visit to the Doctors Office

Osage City, KS(Zone 5b)

I just wanted to pop in and leave a message about my visit to the doctors office this weekend - ROOTDOCTOR's office that is ........ I had a great time and went home with a truckload of Brugs and etc. He talked fondly of so many of you whose names I see out here each day and it was so fun to talk Brugs....... His yard was amazing and I picked up so many tips, techniques and plants........

Thanks RootDoctor ..........

Maybe Monica has figured out how to keep part of the house open for living and not just plants. LOL! Tell her I say "Hi".

Cool. Just wondering though.....are you sure you sent her home with anything? It looks pretty tropical around there yet.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I was just out in the garden and have to be careful where I walk due to all the holes. It's a good way to break a leg and I don't walk very well with two good ones.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

LOL Shirely, don't go out after dark or you'll be like me. That's what made me fall, stepping in a half filled hole.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't Ada, unless my trip is totally on cement.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, speaking of holes in the ground, I have a question. I've picked up on different threads that a lot of you plant things in the ground with the plants still in plastic containers. Can you tell me, Brugie or Root, more about that? Is the only benefit that you just have to clean off the dirt from the outside of the container before you move it in? Doesn't it hamper the roots from growing? Anything you can tell me about this will be appreciated. Thanks.

I'll see if I can find Monika's thread about this and come back in a bit.

Here is one that should explain the how to grow in pots and hold over for the winter. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/200213/

Terrie, if you have extra time, you should go check out many of the threads that Monika has started. There is a wealth of information in them and some awesome pictures.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

You are so right Shirley! Im not kidding when I say I had a week vacation, and used it all to read Monika's threads and information, and try to absorb it! There is so much there, she is amazing!

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Shirley, thanks so much. Just read the thread and it is very, very helpful! And when I have time, I will definitely check Monika's threads. Has her book been published in English yet? Also, is there a place on Dave's to save the threads you want to go back to for info?

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Thats a good question,I would say you could put it in your watched thread list, then if it gets additional info, you are updated.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

So, then if it is old and doesn't get updated for, say a year, you can still go to your home page and look at the threads you are watching and find it there, right?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Should work. Threads that I know I'll need to look at often, I save in my favorites in a folder titled Daves Garden Threads.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Don't want to sound too dumb, but does that mean you email the thread to your regular email address and then move it to a folder in your inbox?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Root & vs looks like you had a great time. I love having little get togethers with gardening friends.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I am using Internet Explorer. When I open a thread that I want to refer back to, I go to the top of my screen and it says Favorites. I click on that and then click on Add to Favorites. That takes me to a box where I can make a folder with the name of my choice and then click OK. Sometimes I change the name line so that it will be easier to remember what is in the thread.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Boy, I learn something new everyday on Dave's. Thanks again, Shirley.

Just saved that thread from Monika. That is so great!! I've been wondering about how to save these threads for a long time.

I must have missed something somewhere. Are you moving Root? What is this about your paradise going away??????

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)
