Sedum - Purple Emperor

(Zone 7a)

Hi, I removed all pieces of this plant down to the roots today. It has flowered and probably has lots of seeds in the flower heads (if it makes seeds). Therefore I am offerring all the cuttings, with flower heads attached for trade. I have stuck them in water to begin rooting. The picture is a little off but this plant truly is purple. It flowers deep rose. I really would like to give all that's in the bucket to one trade. But I'm flexible...LOL Thanks!

FYI - I have been told that sedums won't root in water, they will just rot, which would be a shame for the Purple Emp. sedum. I have actually tried to root sedum cuttings in water, not knowing any better, and they did start to rot. You are supposed to just stick the cuttings in moist soil and they will root just fine.

I was able to save the rotting cuttings by snipping off the ends that were in the water and putting them in the ground and they made it with no problems.

Thanks for the info..I have rooted many sedums in water. So far the haven't rotted..I don't know what to say.. But I guess some things work for some and not others..

Kim,

I also would be interested in some PE if you have any left. What would you be interested in? I will go to your trade/wish list and take a look.
