I have a "Black Magic" Colocasia plant and I just moved it into a room with a south facing window. How much shade does this plant prefer? I constantly water it as I know it is a "bog plant". Should I mist the leaves every day? I do this with my Alocasias and they love it, but water just rolls off of the leaves when I mist the Colocasia.

I've included a picture of how I have it set up now. I just misted it, which is why a few of the leaves look shiny.
Black magic Colocasia sun amount question
My black magic likes lots of sun. If it does not get enough sun, then the leaves turn green.
rylaff is right. Full sun keeps the leaves black and it will grow in water. Last year I had my pot in another pot of water all summer. This year I put it in the ground and it got really big. Full sun and daily watering. This reminds me....I have to go dig that big thing out of the flower bed.
Thank you very much. To deal with issue of the plant receiving enough water, I went out and purchased the largest saucer I could find and I just watch for the water level getting low. As far as the "misting" question. Should I continue this ?
Black vs green leaves mystery solved. The leaves closest to the window are black but a couple that receive the least amount of light are a dark green color instead.
Brugie, I agree, they love sun and water. I have an area in mostly sun where the roof drips(they don't believe in gutters down here, can't even buy them at Home Depot, lol) and it stays wet. I have killed everything I put in there because of the water. Back in August I put a dozen Black Magics in that bed and they love it! They are the ones that were out by the pool and I couldn't keep them wet enough.
yes.. as Rylaff said without sun the leave are green.. with sun they are blacker.. which reminds me of a posting a few years ago.. where this person would write the names of the grand kids in tape on the new leaves and leave it.. the leaves would blacken and befoe the kids would arrive they would remove the tape and their names would be displayed in green on the leaves... nice advertising gimic for commercial display eh what... Cute idea. I might have to try that next summer.
How cute! I could do that to the ones by the walkway.
