It is a very large bulb. How deep should I plant it? I can't find any info online. Help!
Dracunculus vulgaris - how deep to plant the bulb?
Breck's has the following guide http://brecks.com/article.asp?ai=434 and it says 5" - 6" and 10" - 12" apart.
Thanks PotEmUp. :)
Sue, just curious, how large is "very large"?
I bought some Dracunculus bulbs from Breck's with a $20 freebie coupon. There's 3 bulbs in a pack and they're about the size of an extra large lily bulb. They look pretty healthy with a nice growing tip. Breck's claims they're hardy to zone 5. I'm having doubts tho. It's late to put things in the ground here and I'm afraid these won't have enough time to establish before we get a hard freeze. I'm thinking maybe I'll put one in the ground and plant the other two in containers to keep in the greenhouse. I really don't want to grow them inside... I'm afraid they'll stink the house up.
Poppy - did you forget the exchange at http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/415623/ I would think you would be sure that it would stink up the house.
