Braided Hibiscus Tree

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

My hibiscus is loosing all of its leaves. It is still blooming. I live in zone 6, and I did bring it in the house about a week ago. Does anyone have any ideal what is wrong with it. It doesn't seem to have any bugs, the leaves are just turning yellow and falling off.

it's probable just going into some shock from being outside. don't over water it. i'd let it dry out in between waterings.
i'm not sure if they need a dormant period, all of mine live outside all winter.

It may be that your house is too dry, it may need a little more humidity- try misting it.

Mine did this too when I brought them in. They probably go dormant and would benefit from being cut down a bit. I think they need ALOT of sun or the leaves will do this.

I would like to thank all of you for your help, I do think I will try cutting it back, and start misting it. What have I got to loose. If it dies I know I did try something to save it. I really love Hibiscus flowers, I just wished I lived in a zone where they could stay out all year. I am trying to get started some that are prennials, and having a hard time. I have some seeds know and hope I will be able to start them over the winter.

Oh yes, by all means cut it back, I forgot about this. I cut mine back pretty sererly when I bring them in, they will be much fuller in the spring if you do it. I prune them some during the summer too.
