Almost time to say good bye

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

We are starting to have nights in the 50s now even though the days get to the high 70s/low 80s. It is about time to put all my plants away for the winter. I can't say how much I have enjoyed the scent of the brugs and tuberose this year as well as the moonflower vines and other. Why is summer so short? LOL

One of my best hybrids.
Also the reason I am not getting much done!

Love the looks of that little hybrid. Everything looks so beautiful. You did a great job this summer.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Your gardens are beautiful, Michele. And I love the look of that little hybrid! I'm going to be a grandmother for the first time in March and can't wait to have one of those sweet little things! Your path under construction looks wonderful. Wish I had room for something like that. Do you dig and move ALL of your plants inside?

Chele:

Everything looks so beautiful. I thought about you this morning as I stepped over these plants. You sent me these as cuttings last year.

Thanks Waterloo! You know better than I the challenges of being in a cool zone!

Thank you Trunnels! Congratulations too! Do you know what sex the baby is yet? I only have 1/4 of an acre but I am down to paths of grass. The gardens in this picture are half destructed. I am giving the kids back some yard for playing so I am potting things. I am busily seeking out acreage so we can move. Yes, I drag it all in and leave it go dormant. Wish I had a warmer zone though! LOL

Delecie! So nice to see you! I am glad you are taking good care of my babies. Need any more? I think I have about 10 named coleus and I do not have the room to bring them in. Let me know if you would like more. :) I can send you the pics of them or names if you want them.

WOW Michele! BEAUTIFUL gardens! I like the hybrid the best :-)...The place looks like a park as in botanical gardens. You should charge visitors. Where in the world do you put all the plants you bring in for the winter?

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Gorgeous gardens Michele! Love your hybrid, she is a doll! :-)

Monster coleus! What are you feeding those bad boys? LOL! And that banana .....wow! I'm walking around the garden today almost in dispair. Grabbing the caladiums 'just in time' . We will see temps below 50 this next week. Boo!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It all looks just great Michele. I don't know how you do it all, along with all the other things you have to do to keep up. I'm pooped and I've just started getting ready for frost. I can't believe how fast your littlest hybrid is growing. I guess that is why we call them hybrids; they are some of the best.

Chele:

You have mail. :-)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Chele, your gardens look great(and your little hybrid too!). Come to south TX, we have no frost! There are some 10 acre lots for sale not far from my house.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Delecie,
Your plants look beautiful and so healthy!

Michele,
We are supposed to find out the sex sometime around the middle of October (but you know how that goes, sometimes the baby just isn't cooperating for the perfect view, so I'm trying to prepare my daughter not to be disappointed). Do you have a greenhouse for winterizing or do you put all your plants in the garage?

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9b)

Hi Cincy...is the plant in the center castor bean? And the burgundy to the right? All in your first picture. I was raised in springfield, Ohio and although I miss some fo the things you can grow, I am learning more and more about Florida gardening with more unusual plants. You push for tropicals and care for them when it gets cold and we try to keep things going through the heat. Also as your gardening season is ending, our best time is just arriving...try buying pansies in October! Your gardens are gorgeous, just gorgeous and I know a LOT of work!

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9b)

In your last plant phot, how much light are they getting and what kind and from what direction? Just beautiful!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the compliments!

Dale, there are lots of castors in there. LOL The big green and also the big burgundy plants are castors. All the plants in these pics are in my back yard and get about 8 hours of full sun per day. They would all be larger and more lush if I spent the time and money to feed them properly. My yard is 95% full sun! With six kids and a job, they don't get the attention they need but I enjoy them all so much I just do what I can. ;)

Trunnels, you will have to keep us updated on the baby. It is so hard to sit and wait when you are prego. Sometimes they can't see what sex and occasionally they are wrong. That would be so rough! Congrats on your soon to be. Oh, yes, I drag all the ears, bananas, etc in. I have to let some plants go though if they are easy to find or have to be kept growing. I'm just plain out of room both inside and out. LOL

Susie, you big tease! We'd pack up and move in a heartbeat! Craig still can't take the cool and the wet here. Got much of a computer industry down there??

Delecie, I have you covered. :)

Brugie, it is so sad! She is going to be six months old soon. booo hoooo They should have to stay small longer. That is the part that makes the later years tolerable. LOL

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Very Nice....we have to dig this week I fear..nights in the low 40's by next weekend.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I have most of mine potted now. I am waiting on some of the Ivan tragedy people to get back with me and the others are going to those people. :)

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Chele everything looks fantastic and so lush! The baby is a doll! Look how big she's getting. Boy time does fly.
Speaking of time flying. I'm in denial about W I N T E R!!!! I'll wake up one day and everything will be dead if I don't get to moving stuff in.

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

Thank-you Chele. :-)

trunnels:

Thank-you for the compliment. The plants love that spot because they receive morning sun and afternoon shade. After I fell in love with the coleus that I received from Chele, I bought others from Walmart but all but three of them have died; they received too much sun.

I agree with DaleP6; it gets so hot here that it's a struggle to keep some plants alive. However, once we get respite from the heat, the plants do a lot better.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Everything looks just wonderful! I cant believe how big the munchkin is getting! Wonder woman for sure!!
